Copenhagen hosted on 11-13 October 2016 the first meeting of project team A (PTA) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG 19), chaired by Gerlof Osinga of the Netherlands and attended by 35 participants from administrations and delegates from private enterprise and the Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R).
PTA is responsible for preparing European common proposals (ECPs) for the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) on the following subjects: i) status of space science service allocations, e.g. for Earth exploration by satellite service and satellite meteorology; ii) spectrum requirements for high-altitude platforms; iii) short duration non-geostationary satellite systems regarding pico and nano satellites; iv) and regulatory topics such as the review of provisions for national footnotes and revision of ITU-R recommendations and resolutions concerning that sector.
As this was the first meeting of the new WRC-19 preparation cycle, the first draft briefs were drawn up; these documents serve as the basis for producing ECPs.
The next meeting is due to be held in Copenhagen in February 2017.
