Survey on Information and Communication Technologies Usage in Households 2012


This report, produced by Instituto Nacional de Estatística (Statistics Portugal) in liaison with UMIC - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (The Knowledge Society Agency - since extinguished), presents the principal statistic findings of the survey on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Usage in Households, consisting of at least one individual aged between 16 and 74, residing in private dwelling as principal residence. This year's report also incorporates the results of a survey on individuals in the 10-15 years age bracket.

In 2012, 66 percent of households have access to a computer at home, 61 percent have Internet access and 60 percent have access to a broadband connection. In the same period, 62 percent of people aged between 16 and 74 use a computer, 60 percent access the Internet and 13 percent have ordered goods or services over the Internet. Among those who use the Internet, 35 percent perform the access in mobility. The use of ICT is widespread among young people from 10 to 15 years: 98 percent use computers, 95 percent access the Internet and 93 percent use mobile phones.
