AMA launches public consultation for the regulation of 'open standards'

Portugal's AMA - Agência para a Modernização Administrativa (Agency for Administrative Modernisation) has launched a public consultation on a set of standards which will comprise the future National Regulation of Digital Interoperability.

The new Regulation will enable the interoperability of the Public Administration’s systems and documents and will also contribute to a reduction in consultancy and software costs.  Provision for the adoption and use of open standards on the State’s IT systems was made under Law 36/2011, published on 21 June.

The consultation, which is open to contributions from all citizens, closes on 30 October 2011.
