European Commission launches calls for studies in the scope of the Information Society


The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Information Society and Media launched three new calls for tender regarding studies in the scope of the information society.

Broadband coverage in Europe

Aim of the study: to support the i2010 initiative and future strategic work, by collecting complete and updated market data, thus providing a complete overview of broadband penetration and coverage in the 25-country European Union (EU), as well as in Norway and Iceland.

Interactive content and convergence: Implications for the Information Society

Aim of the study: to identify and evaluate the impact of potential economic, technical and legal constraints to the development of the European interactive content market during the next five years, and to give recommendations on the appropriate measures to overcome them.

Benchmarking in a policy perspective

Aim of the study: to perform a deep analysis of the results of the annual information society surveys performed by Eurostat on European families and companies, relating them to a number of specific themes, to be selected by the Commission. The purpose is thus to approach other domains beyond the mere implementation of information and communication technologies, such as the social shaping of technology with regard to individuals and communities.
