The Portuguese Committee of URSI, with sponsorship from ANACOM, has inaugurated the ''URSI Portugal Research Prize'', to be awarded in recognition of the best research in the field of radio-electricity. The aim of the prize is to encourage creativity and rigour in Portuguese scientific research work. Entries may be presented by 30 September 2009.
This year's prize will be handed out during the 3rd Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSI, which will take place on 3 and 4 November 2009 on the theme ''Radiocommunications: from the Earth to the Universe''.
At the same time, in preparation for the Congress, a call for papers has been issued on the main theme of the congress and the defined scientific areas. Through this initiative, the Portuguese Committee of URSI aims to promote the circulation of scientific works and encourage the exchange of information between researchers, manufacturers and service providers.
In response to this call for papers, original scientific communications can be submitted by 30 September, with the selected works to be presented at the Congress.
