Auditing service quality at the CTT (Portuguese Post Offices)

Upon determination on 10 May 2001, the Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (ICP), approved the auditing conclusions regarding the Service Quality Indicators (SQI) for CTT - Correios de Portugal, S.A., related to 1999.

The audit had a two-fold objective: to confirm the reliability of the SQI monitoring system in force in 1999 and that of the new SQI monitoring system, which began operating in January 2000. It concluded that both systems are reliable, but nevertheless presented a set of Recommendations to be followed by the CTT.

In accordance with the Law of Bases for Postal Services - Law no. 102/99, of 26
July (namely point 7, article 8) -, it shall fall upon ICP to ensure the control of the service quality levels that are offered, irrespective of the universal service provider. Furthermore, the respective results must be published in a report at least once a year.
