The licensing procedure for the provision of ERMES - the European Radio Message System in Portugal was opened on 13th February of 1998, the date upon which all companies interested in providing the said ERMES based service have been able to submit licensing applications to ICP.
In addition to reception, ERMES also permits the sending of numeric and/or alphanumeric paging messages as well as data messages in transparent mode in any zone covered by the service to appropriate non fixed terminal equipment. The ERMES system also permits access to the identical service of other countries.
Note: ICP provides the translations of the texts below. In case of divergent interpretation, the Portuguese text in its original printing shall prevail.
