UMTS used by 1.281 million customers between January and March


As at the end of the first quarter of 2007 there were 1.281 million users of UMTS services in Portugal who used these services at least once during the period. Users of UMTS services therefore represented, in the period being reported, around 10% of the total of 12.4 million terrestrial mobile service customers.

In the same period, of the users of the services supported by the UMTS network, 265,437 did so to access the Internet.

Since third generation mobile technology came out in 2004, the number of users of these services has totalled 2.462 million customers, of which 570 thousand have used this technology for broadband internet access.

Between January and March, 1.485 million videocalls were made, generating a total traffic volume of 2.862 million minutes.

In the same period, 45.570 million connections to the internet were made, generating a total traffic volume of 732.984 million minutes and 12.230 million MMSs were sent.

Between January and March of this year, 24.639 million WAP connections were made, generating 4.170 million megabytes of traffic.
