On 13 August 2024, ANACOM approved the Regulation on the provision of information on the location of callers to the PASP - Ponto de Atendimento de Segurança Pública (Public Security Answering Point).
The Regulation establishes:
- The principles and rules referring to the information to be made available to the most appropriate Public Security Answering Point on the location of callers making emergency communications using the single European emergency number ("112") or any other national emergency number specified by ANACOM, as duly identified in the Plano Nacional de Numeração (National Numbering Plan);
- Technical specifications relating to emergency communications and caller location information;
- The criteria for accuracy and reliability of caller location information to be made available to the most appropriate Public Security Service Point.
This Regulation will be published in Diário da República (Official Journal), coming into force 12 months following its publication, subject to its transitional provisions.
