Approval of the Regulation on the provision of information on the location of callers to Public Security Answering Points

By decision of 13 August 2024, ANACOM has approved the Regulation on the provision of information on the location of callers to PASP - Ponto de Atendimento de Segurança Pública (Public Security Answering Points).
On the same date, approval was also given to the report on the public consultation, to which the respective draft regulationhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1775338 was submitted (draft regulation approved on 1 March 2024). In response to this public consultation, timely contributions were received from the following entities: APRITEL – Associação dos Operadores de Comunicações Eletrónicas; Colt Technology Services; Digi Portugal; MEO – Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia; NOS, SGPS (on behalf of its subsidiaries NOS Comunicações, NOS Wholesale, NOS Açores Comunicações and NOS Madeira Comunicações); NOWO Communications; and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was also determined to publish the Regulation in the 2nd series of Diário da República (Official Journal).
