ANACOM launches a public consultation on the draft amendment to Regulation No 1165/2022 of 14 December, which defines the methodology for calculating the net costs of the universal service obligation related to the application of the social tariff for the provision of broadband Internet access services (SIT).
Currently, article 5 of this Regulation establishes a transitional period for companies that wish to do so to submit an application for compensation for the unfair burden of providing the social tariff for the provision of broadband internet access services (SIT) during 2022 until the end of January 2023, in compliance with paragraph 2 of article 157 of the Electronic Communications Lawhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=333114 (ECL).
With the amendment proposed in the draft amendment, article 5 will now provide a final deadline for the submission of applications for compensation for unfair burden, establishing that such applications must be submitted by providers by the end of January of the year following that to which the costs to be compensated relate.
Interested parties have 30 working days to submit their comments, in writing and in Portuguese. Contributions can be submitted until 9 October 2023, preferably by email to altreg11652022@anacom.ptmailto:altreg11652022@anacom.pt.
Once the consultation process is complete, contributions received will be made public, whereby interested parties should also send a version of the document stripped of any elements considered confidential for publication on this website.
