The 15th Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSIhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1696007 is taking place on 24 November 2021 at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, and will also be broadcast online. The theme of the Congress, which has been organised by ANACOM, is "Environmental sustainability in the use of radio spectrum".
Sustainable development is a concept that combines economic and social development with the preservation of the environment, providing a response to current needs without undermining the ability of future generations to satisfy their own needs.
A comprehensive and responsible spectrum policy comprises actions on multiple fronts, including the active fight against climate change and the efforts required to achieve carbon neutrality, for example, promoting the use of sustainable technologies that effectively contribute to a reduction in the environmental footprint of electronic communications services and networks.
The Congress will present the role that technologies can play in achieving environmental sustainability, and show how technologies are being developed to be more environmentally friendly. It will also address the issue of exposure to 5G electromagnetic radiation.
