On 24 November 2021, the Portuguese Committee of URSI (International Union of Radio Science) is holding its fifteenth Congress, on the subject “Environmental sustainability in use of the radio spectrum”.
Sustainable development is a concept that combines economic and social development with preservation of the environment, providing a response to current needs without undermining the capacity of future generations to satisfy their own needs.
A comprehensive and responsible spectrum policy comprises actions on multiple fronts, including the active fight against climate change, making the efforts necessary to achieve carbon neutrality by promoting practices such as the use of sustainable technologies that effectively contribute to a reduction in the environmental footprint left by electronic communications services and networks.
