ANACOM's Chairman participates in the Conference on International Connectivity and the EU Atlantic Data Gateway Platform


The Chairman of ANACOM's Board of Directors, João Cadete de Matos, participated in the opening session of the Conference on International Connectivity and the EU Atlantic Data Gateway Platformhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1621691, which took place on 27 and 28 May under the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event was organised jointly by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing and by ANACOM, with the support of AICEP Global Parques.

In the presentation made by João Cadete de Matos, which is available for consultation, he underlined the importance of international connectivity for the efficient functioning of the Internet ecosystem, as a fundamental ingredient for socioeconomic development and for national and international projects focused on innovation and scientific research.

One of the points of this presentation was the important activity carried out by the working group, set up by the Portuguese Government and chaired by ANACOM, dedicated to studying and analysing the most appropriate technical and financial configuration for the timely replacement of submarine cables providing communications links between Mainland Portugal, the Azores and Madeira (CAM).

In his presentation, the Chairman of ANACOM also noted Portugal's unique position with respect to the EU Atlantic Data Platform, contributing to Europe's digital leadership and its competitiveness at a global level.
