Two videoconference meetings of the task force (TF) for Revision of the UPU’s Contributory System were held on 6 and 29 October 2020, chaired by Germany and with the main aim of attempting to implement a voluntary financing model for the Union that assures its sustainability and which requires that the countries that currently pay less than their economic capacity (as classified by the United Nations system) admit to revising their membership fees. The solidarity principle is fundamental for this exercise.
Once the text of the Task Force’s report to present to the 27th Congress was approved, at these last two meetings, an effort was made to revise and adopt the proposal to amend the various legal provisions which will have to be adjusted due to the revision of the contributory system.
