The jury of the “O meu selo preferido” competition, composed of Luís Anselmo (ANACOM), Paula Andrade (Regional Government of the Azores) and the artist Martim Cymbron, decided to award the following works:
Level 6 - 9 years old
1st - Nair Cordeiro Machado
2nd - Bernardo Pereira Couto
3rd - Simão Pereira Couto
Level 10 - 12 years old
1st - Xavier Mota Claudino
2nd - Manuel Macedo Resendes
3rd - Tomás Tavares Albergaria
The awarded works were chosen, from a set of 172, according to criteria of creativity, originality and conformity and interpretation of the theme.
The winners in each level will receive one tablet, while the 2nd and 3rd place winners in each level will receive Instax cameras.
In addition to the prizes awarded to the distinguished candidates, the responsible teachers will receive a copy of the book "As mais belas árvores de Portugal” (The most beautiful trees of Portugal) and schools will receive educational software and the collection "História das ex-colónias de Portugal em selos e notas" (History of the former colonies of Portugal in stamps and notes) (fascicles, booklet and packs with stamps and notes).
Through this competition, launched by ANACOM, children and young people aged between 6 and 12, residing on the Island of São Miguel (Autonomous Region of the Azores) were challenged to visit the exhibition ''Selos Portugueses de Além-Mar''https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1475570 (Portuguese Stamps from Overseas) which was open to the public until 31 October 2019, and draw the stamp they most liked. The aim was to raise awareness among young people about the works on display and show the value of stamps as a form of artistic expression that tells stories and conveys culture, encouraging them to express their creativity.
This exhibition is now heading to Terceira Island, and the inauguration is expected to take place in January 2020.
