Workshop ''Connecting Europe Facility 2''

The second generation of funds related to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF2) will be launched in 2021, covering the period of 2021-2027, with a budget proposal estimated at 42.3 billion euros (of which 3 billion euros is in the digital sector).

At this workshop, experts from the European Commission (EC) evidenced the links between possible CEF funding in the digital area and the priorities for high-speed broadband development in Portugal, identifying equally opportunities and procedures so entities interested in Portugal can optimise the use of community funds.

In parallel, the main priorities for the national strategy for very high-speed broadband were presented, especially in the field of submarine cables (international connectivity and Mainland-Azores-Madeira) and coverage/access in rural and peripheral regions.
