Stakeholders Forum - September 2019

Brussels hosted last 18 September the second ERGP Stakeholders Forum, organised by ANACOM in the scope of the 2019 ERGP presidency. This forum serves as a meeting point for regulators and representatives of the postal, digital and e-commerce sector and was attended by more than 200 sector representatives and by the director-general of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Bishar Hussein, and the director-general of the European Commission’s DG Grow, Timo Pesonen.

The meeting served to present and discuss the ERGP’s medium term strategy for 2020-2022 and the 2020 working programme, documents in public consultation.

This was followed by debate about the sector’s regulatory future and the implications of e-commerce development for the sector. The last session focused on discussing the need to regulate international mail, with a view to the upcoming UPU Extraordinary Congress to be held on 24-26 September 2019.

The head of ANACOM’s board of directors, João Cadete de Matos, chaired and concluded the forum, stressing that the ERGP is an indispensable interlocutor for postal regulation in the European Union and that the event serves as a reference for the sector.
