Bundled services grow 3.8% to 3.95 million subscribers


Statistical data at the end of the first half of 2019 (1H2019) showed that the number of bundled services subscribers reached 3.95 million (+146 thousand or +3.8% compared to the same half year in the previous year). This growth is essentially linked to quadruple/quintuple play (4/5P) bundled services, which attracted another 135 thousand subscribers s and, to a lesser extent, triple play (3P) bundled services – another 61 thousand.

At the end of 1H19, the 4/5P bundles continued to be the most used, with 1.86 million subscribers (47.1%), followed by 3P bundles, with 1.64 million subscribers (41.6%). The penetration of 4/5P bundles reached 44.8 per 100 private households in the first half of 2019.

Revenues from bundled services reached around 810 million euros at the end of the first half of 2019 (3% more than in the same half of 2018). 4/5P offers represented 60.8% of revenues from bundles. The average monthly revenue per bundled service subscriber was 34.48 euros, with the average monthly revenue from 4/5P bundles having reached 44.92 euros (-2.6%).

Regarding the offer structure at the end of 1H19, MEO was the provider which had the highest share of bundled services subscribers (40.7%), followed by the NOS Group (36.9%), Vodafone (18.3%) and the NOWO/Onitelecom Group (4.0%).  Compared to the same period last year, Vodafone and MEO increased their subscriber shares by 1 p.p. and 0.2 p.p., respectively, while the shares of NOS (-0.8 p.p.) and the NOWO/Onitelecom Group (-0.5 p.p.) decreased. Furthermore, in terms of market structure, The NOS Group had the largest share of bundled service revenues (41.8%), followed by MEO (41.4%), Vodafone (13.8%) and the NOWO/Onitelecom Group (3.0%). Compared to the same period last year, in the first half of 2019 Vodafone had a 1.2 p.p. increase in revenue shares, in contrast to the decrease shown by MEO (-0.6 p.p.) and the NOWO/Onitelecom Group (-0.6 p.p.).
