ANACOM met with the Deputy Mayor of Porto, Filipe Araújo, in a working session that was also attended by the Secretary of State for Administrative Modernisation, Luís Goes Pinheiro. The agenda included topics related to telecommunications and the provision of telephone information to citizens.
At the session, which took place on 26 July 2019, in the Municipal Council of Porto, the City's Vice-President mentioned the municipal council’s bet on digitisation and rapid and integrated information to citizens, and on the work that has been done to reinforce the capacity of the municipal council in this matter, as it is a very important means to improve the responsiveness to citizen requests and the quality of service.
The municipal council also expressed its concern about the proliferation of cables in façades, with an impact on the environment and heritage, and noted some initiatives in this regard, such as the installation of buried infrastructures, particularly when interventions are made on public roads. The objective is to provide infrastructures that can be used by telecommunications operators to connect cables to buildings without having to affect the façades. ANACOM supported this initiative and provided the necessary collaboration for its implementation.
