The Chairman of ANACOM, João Cadete de Matos, has taken part in the session "Getting to ICT and Financial Regulatory Collaboration for Inclusive DFS: A Global Showcase” at the “Financial Inclusion Global Initiative Symposium”, which was held from 22 to 24 January 2019, in Cairo (Egypt). The symposium was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the World Bank and the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (Bank for International Settlements). It is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Chairman of ANACOM focused, in particular, on the importance of interaction between telecommunications regulators and the financial sector, given the critical link between financial inclusion and digital inclusion.
At the same event, João Cadete de Matos was interviewed by the ITU on topics such as regulatory measures and the role of governments in promoting the use of digital financial services.
