ITU launches an open consultation on developmental aspects of the Internet

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) - the specialised agency of the United Nations for telecommunications and information technologies - recently launched an open consultation in order to gather views about developmental aspects of the Internet.

This open consultation, approved in the context of the ITU’s Council Working Group on international Internet-related public policy issues, has the following aims:

  • to identify the developmental aspects of the Internet, especially for developing countries;
  • to gather opinions about how Governments and other stakeholders can promote those aspects considered;
  • to identify challenges and opportunities.

Views must be submitted by January 11th 2017 at the online consultation page http://www.itu.int/en/council/cwg-internet/Pages/consultation-oct2016.aspx.

A meeting will subsequently be held on February 3rd 2017 at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland) at which the respondents to the open consultation will have the opportunity to present their views and to have a discussion with the other participants.
