IR EWG meeting - Brussels

BEREC’s expert working group on International Roaming held a meeting last 17 August in Brussels, co-chaired by the national regulatory authorities (NRAs) of Austria (Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications) and Spain (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia).

The main point of the meeting was the presentation and discussion of ongoing work on input for the European Commission (EC) associated to the proposal on implementing acts concerning definition of the responsible use policy (RUP) for roaming services in the scope of Roam Like at Home (RLAH). Also considered was determination of the sustainability mechanism which per the Roaming Regulation will enable operators to ask NRAs of the country where they operate for permission to apply surcharges on roaming services, if they find that RLAH application does not allow them to cover costs incurred when providing those services.
