On 13 October 2016, at 10:13 am, the national exercise "A terra treme" (The earth trembles) took place; it was arranged by Autoridade Nacional de Proteção Civil (National Authority for Civil Protection).
This initiative, which will last for only one minute, seeks to draw attention to seismic risk and the importance of citizens knowing how to act in the event of an earthquake, which, though simple, can save lives.
