Biography note of Sébastien Soriano


Sébastien SorianoSébastien Soriano was appointed Chairman of Arcep (Autorité de régulation des communications électroniques et des postes) on 15th January 2015, for a six-year term. In December 2015, Sébastien Soriano was elected Chair of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) for 2017. With this appointment come the significant responsibilities of the BEREC Vice-Chair, starting in 2016 and up to 2018.

Born in 1975, Sébastien Soriano is trained as an Engineer in Telecoms and graduated from École Polytechnique.

He has spent most of his career in competition and telecoms regulation. He started his career at the French Competition Authority (2001-2004) as a case handler and then returned as Deputy General Rapporteur from 2009 to 2012. Between 2004 and 2009, he held various positions at Arcep as head of unit for mobile markets and then director of broadband market. In 2012, he was Head of cabinet of Fleur Pellerin, the then French Minister for SMEs, innovation and digital economy. Prior to his appointment as President of Arcep, he was Special Advisor to the French Minister for Culture and Communication.
