ANACOM Alerts - changing address and unblocking your mobile phone

As part of the "Alerts ANACOM" initiative, launched to strengthen the information that ANACOM makes available to consumers on specific sector issues, reflecting the main issues raised in complaints, the following article was published on 2 July (Correio da Manhã) and 3 July (Jornal de Notícias):

Changing your address

  • The address where your service is installed forms part of your contract.
  • If you change address, this means amending your contract or concluding a new one; you will need to come to an agreement with your provider.
  • If your provider offers you a special deal with a discount on installation at your new address, you may have to agree to a new contract lock-in period.
  • If you decide to cancel your contract and you can't come to an agreement with your provider on the conditions of cancellation, get in contact with a Consumer Conflict Arbitration Centre.

This week's section on Radio Renascença will air on 5, 6 and 7 July between 5 pm and 6 pm in the 1st position of the block as follows:

Did you know that you can unblock your mobile phone so that you can use it with another provider?

  • Yes, it's possible. If your phone is blocked, you will need to ask your provider to unblock it so that you can use it on another network.
  • Your provider has to inform you about the costs and conditions of unblocking in writing.
  • If your contract stipulates a lock-in period, unblocking is free once this period is over.  During the lock-in period, you may have to pay a charge.
  • If your contract doesn't have a lock-in period, unblocking your phone may have a cost.

Contact your provider for further information.
