On 2 June 2016, ANACOM approved the Regulation governing operation of the Radio Data System (RDS).
This draft regulation sets out to define the technical specification of the RDS system, of RDS system applications and respective conditions, the procedures to be followed to obtain RDS system operating authorisation and the items to be included in the corresponding title of authorisation, bringing the regulation into line with the legislative changes which stem from the publication of Decree-Law no. 248/2015https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1373588 of 28 October. It should be noted that the changes do not cause radio operators any additional cost, and merely clarify and simplify the procedures for obtaining authorisation to operate the RDS system.
On the same date, approval was also given to the report on the public consultation to which the respective draft decisionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1380368 was submitted (draft decision approved on 4 February 2016).
The present Regulation enters into force on the day following that of its publication in Diário da República (Official Journal).
