European Commission publishes report on digital progress

The European Commission (EC) has released a report on digital progress in the European Union (EU) that shows disparities in the development of the digital economy in the Member States.

The report examines key aspects to achieve a Digital Union (connectivity, digital skills, use of Internet, integration of Digital Technology through businesses, and digital public services).

Regarding 2015, the report highlights the increase in speed and mobile internet, public provision of a wider range of public services online, and more people buying online.

Portugal stands out as the second EU country recording the most progress in the last year, with broadband networks that ensure good coverage, public services in the front line and an above average performance for digital technology used by companies.
