"Write a letter to your 45-year-old self" was the theme chosen for the 2016 edition of the letter-writing contest organised by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and promoted in Portugal through a joint initiative of ANACOM and CTT - Correios de Portugal.
From all the letters received from entries in the two age groups, the jury chose the following entries as winners:
- 1st age group (9-11 years) - Pedro Vieira, aged 11, from Vila Nova de Gaia;
- 2nd age group (12-15 years) - Maria Machado, aged 15, from Porto.
The award ceremony will take place as part of the celebrations marking World Post Day in October, in Lisbon.
The winning letter from the 2nd age group will go on to represent Portugal at the International Letter-writing Competition organised by the UPU, and the results of the competition will be announced on the UPU’s website by September.
