Use of the 1850-2000 kHz band by the amateur service in 2016


ANACOM has announced that it is authorising use of the 1850-2000 kHz band in accordance with the conditions laid down in the National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA) for the 1830-1850 kHz band.  This authorisation permits participation in the following competitions during 2016:

  • 30 - 31 January 2016 - CQ World-Wide 160 Meter Contest (CW);
  • 20 - 21 February 2016 - ARRL International DX CW Competition;
  • 27 - 28 February 2016 - CQ World-Wide 160 Meter Contest (SSB);
  • 05 - 06 March 2016 - ARRL International DX– Phone Competition;
  • 26- 27 March 2016 - CQ WW WPX CW Competition;
  • 21 - 22 May 2016 - S.M. El Rey de España CW Competition;
  • 28 to 29 May 2016 - CQ WW WPX CW Competition;
  • 25 - 26 June - S.M. El Rey de España SSB Competition;
  • 09 - 10 July 2016 - IARU HF Championship;
  • 29 - 30 October 2016 -  CQ WW DX SSB Competition;
  • 26 - 27 November 2016 - CQ WW DX CW Competition;
  • 02 - 04 December 2016 - ARRL 160-Meter Competition.

This authorisation is governed by paragraph 3 of article 5 of Decree-Law no. 151-A/2000 of 20 July, as amended by Decree-Law no. 264/2009 of 28 of September.

Authorization for temporary use of the 1850-2000 kHz band does not allow its use for other purposes within the amateur service or by any other radio service.

Additionally, transmissions associated with the authorised use shall not cause interference to other radio services and any such interference shall determine the immediate termination of transmissions in the band.

These uses must comply, where applicable, with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 53/2009 of 2 March.

It should be noted that, in relation to the present authorisation, this decision in no way binds ANACOM as regards any future process in respect of this frequency band and does not give basis to any right, expectation or legally protected interest.
