Take-up of e-commerce in Europe reaches 53% in 2015


The Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) has recently reported that, in 2015, 53% of European citizens aged between 16 and 74 years acquired goods or services for private use over the Internet. This figure exceeds the target of 50% established in the European Union's Digital Agenda for 2015.

The report highlights the high level of take-up in countries such as the United Kingdom (81%), Denmark (79%), Luxembourg (78%) and Germany (73%). In Portugal, 31% of citizens used e-commerce.
