Land Mobile Service reaches 4.67 million subscribers

At the end of 1999, the Land Mobile Service in Portugal had 4.67 million clients. This figure corresponds to a 52% increase in relation to the end of 1998, which ended with 3.07 million mobile service users. With regard to September, the growth registered at the end of 1999 corresponds to an 11% increase in the number of clients. The analogue technology, which at the end of 1998 represented 1.9% of the total subscribers, ceased on 31 October 1999.

Over the same period, the traffic generated by the three operators rose to 4.8 million minutes, divided into 3.98 million calls. These figures represent a 74% growth in conversation minutes between 1998 and 1999 and a 47% increase in calls made over that same period. As a result of this evolution, each subscriber to the Land Mobile Service made more two daily calls than in the previous year.
