The 6th General Assembly of the Association of Communications and Telecommunications Regulators from the Portuguese Language Countries (ARCTEL-CPLP) was held last 21-22 April at the Indy Village Hotel & Spa Conference Centre in Maputo, Mozambique. A highlight was the taking office of the new leadership, now chaired by the Instituto Nacional das Comunicações de Moçambique (INCM) for a two year term, and approval of the activities plan and respective budget. Note also the decision to hold a seminar on 'Content Production in the Lusophone Space' in Cape Verde, as well as the launch of the ARCTEL Intel platform.

Parallel to the General Assembly, the 5th Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) Communications Forum and 4th Technology Show were held on 23-24 April, attended by more than 190 participants and 25 sector companies from across the Portuguese language world.

The forum's theme topic was 'CPLP Communications in the Digital Era'. It aimed to promote the sharing of experience and information with a view to learning how the sector has adjusted to the digital era and its future prospects. ANACOM Management Board member João Confraria took part as a speaker in panel 3, which covered 'Interactive Digital TV, Sure Shortcut to Digital Inclusion'. The other panels focused on the following topics: 'What Internet Governance Model', 'Postal Service and Electronic Commerce' and 'International Digital Infrastructures: Underwater Cables and Data Centres'.

The Technology Show counted 25 exhibitors, including manufacturers, service providers and operators from various CPLP countries who displayed the best offerings in the Portuguese language market.

This year's event counted the CPLP Business Confederation as an institutional partner, as well as support from the Confederation of Trade Associations (CTA) and the Luso-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce.
