NET.mede receives over 32,000 visits in 24 hours

NET.mede, the tool released yesterday by ANACOM to measure the speed of Internet connections, has received 32,298 visits in 24 hours with a total of 97,341 page views. Each visit had an average of three pages views and an average duration of around four minutes.

With NET.mede, available at www.netmede.pthttps://netmede.pt/ or through www.anacom-consumidor.comhttps://www.anacom-consumidor.pt/, consumers have a tool that they can use, in less than 30 seconds, to check the speed of their internet connection and compare it to the speed they have contracted.

NET.mede can also be used to test traffic shaping, a mechanism used by operators to manage Internet traffic by applying restrictions to traffic and to contracted speeds. Just choose the protocol to be tested - BitTorrent or Flash Video - and check to see whether there is evidence of traffic shaping on your connection.

This new service, supporting customers, gives Internet users objective information that may be useful in managing their relationship with their service provider, in particular when questioning their provider about the quality of service provided.

In launching NET.mede, ANACOM is pursuing its goal of providing the market with improved information and increased transparency.
