On 17 May 2012, ANACOM decided, pursuant to the powers and responsibilities laid down in paragraph. 2 of article 110 of the LCE - Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Law), to notify PT Comunicações, S. A. (PTC) that it discontinue, within a period not exceeding two months, provision, through the "1820" number, of services as are unrelated to telephone directories: indication of open pharmacies; simple national telegrams; information on cultural events and tourist attractions; travel reservation services; information on cinema programmes, ticketing services for shows and football games; horoscope information; information on transport timetables, routes and traffic; weather forecasting and television programming; financial news and information (stock markets, news); Internet search; draw results (Euromillions, Totoloto, Totobola); taxi, hotels and restaurant reservation services. PTC is required to limit its service to the disclosure of data contained in telephone directories of subscribers of fixed and mobile telephone services, as well as other information that may be directly linked to such directories.
It was also decided, pursuant to point g) of article 9, in conjunction with point l) of article 26, of the Statute of ICP-ANACOM, as approved by Decree-Law no. 309/2001 of 7 December, to recommend that PTC change the information on the tariff of the "1820" service, specifically the information that is available on the website casa.telecom.pt as well as information provided by its customer services. This information should now expressly state that where calls are forwarded through the service, such calls shall be subject to the prices established in the applicable tariff, which prices are not equal to those charged when calls are made independently by users.
