Updated FAQs - Local Fixed Telephone Service and Universal Service

Online Services

The Local Fixed Telephone Service and Universal Service FAQs page has now been updated following the publication on 9th January of the new Selection and Pre-selection Regulation. This regulation sets out the principles and rules governing selection and pre-selection on public telephone networks, and comes into force on 14th January (5 working days following publication).

The new regulation aims, in the interest of the market and the consumer in particular, to benefit subscribers by harmonizing procedures as much as possible. The most important changes concern the increased scope of traffic eligible for indirect access and new, simplified procedures for the activation and deactivation of pre-selection.

The following FAQs have been changed accordingly:

17 - What types of calls are eligible?
18 - How is the operator selected?
21 - What is operator pre-selection?
24 - And what if I want to make use of my direct access provider for a specific call, but have pre-selected another provider for this type of call?
29 - If I change direct access provider, may I use the selection or pre-selection functions with the new provider?
30 - How do I know whether I'm making a call to the number of the same provider?
32 - Who decides the price of calls?
