EU Availability of public services on internet


The European Commission has recently published the latest e-Government Report, entitled ''Online Availability of Public Services: How is Europe Progressing?'' Completed by consultants Capgemini, it evaluates the progress that has been made in the EU  towards delivering public services over the internet. The report looked at 14 thousand websites in 25 member-sates as well as Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.

According to the report's findings, there has been an overall improvement in the supply and sophistication of these services, with around 50% of EU public services fully available over the internet in 2006.

In Portugal's case the survey found that around 60% of public services are fully available over the internet.
