ANACOM prolongs trials for T-DMB until the end of 2006

ANACOM  has extended the temporary authorisation without need of license, granted to Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP), for the use of block 12C (226,592-228,128 MHz) for the purpose of carrying out T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) trials. Such use was authorised in July 2006 following a request by RTP, and has now been extended until the end of 2006.

This authorization does not imply any commitment, obligation or constraint regarding the future allocation by ANACOM of rights to use frequencies in Portugal reserved for digital terrestrial television or for land digital radio broadcasting.

ANACOM will accompany the trials and have access to their conclusions, both from a technological standpoint and also in terms of the effective market potential of services based on these technologies.
