New National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP) has been approved

By determination of 4 May 2005, the final version of the new National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP) has been approved, prepared under article 16 of the Law of Electronic Communications (Law no.  5/2004, of 10 February).

The final report on the general consultation procedure, to which that statutory instrument was subject, has been likewise approved, following the determination of 17 December 2004, in the scope of which the contributions from the PT Group, Onitelecom, Radiomovel, Sonaecom and Vodafone Portugal were received.

Being incumbent upon ANACOM, in the scope of the spectrum management, to plan frequencies according to the criteria set out in the law, it is the Authority’s role to publish the NFAP every year.

This statutory instrument, now approved, comprises the frequency allocation table, the indication of assigned frequencies, as well as reserved frequencies and those to be made available in 2005 in the scope of electronic communications networks and services, whether publicly available or not, specifying the cases where it is necessary to allocate rights of use for frequencies, as well as the respective allocation process. The NFAP also indicates the uses for frequencies exempt from radio license.
