Transmitter microphones and hearing aids

  1. 1
    Is radio licensing required for the use of transmitter microphones and auxiliary hearing aids?

    The conditions governing the use of the radio spectrum are set out in the National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA), which is available on the eNTFAhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=343582 electronic platform.

    The frequency bands and respective conditions governing spectrum use for wireless radio transmitters and hearing aids are properly detailed in the file Download file Station licence exemptions (available in Portuguese); see  categories "Transmitter microphones and auxiliary hearing aids" and "High duty cycle/continuous transmission devices";

    These devices are exempt from radio licensing if operating under the conditions set out above, and must operate on a non-interference, non-protection basis in relation to licensed radiocommunication networks and stations. Operation of this type of equipment is to be immediately discontinued in the event of non-compliance with the above conditions set out in the NTFA or upon any occurrence of interference caused to licensed stations or networks.

    For power levels which exceed those identified above, the 174-216 MHz and 470-786 MHz frequency bands may be used, but use is subject to licensing. The licence application should be submitted to ANACOM, using the radio licensing service (eLic), available online - see ANACOM Reserved Serviceshttps://www.anacom.pt/bvirtual/bvru/acesso_direto.do (requires prior website registration).
