Regulatel - Latin American Forum of Telecommunications Regulators

Regulatel is the Latin American Forum of Telecommunications Regulators. Its main goal is to ensure the exchange of information on the regulatory framework of each administration and the harmonisation of regulators' rules and activities, so as to contribute towards a better identification and defence of regional interests and the adoption of common positions at international level.

As an organisation with aims and functions similar to those of the IRG and ERG regulator groups in Europe, Regulatel is a meeting point for the Latin American authorities in charge of regulating electronic communications, providing a common space for debate, information and the sharing of experience. It aims to encourage co-operation and the co-ordination of activities in the field of telecommunications, thus promoting the sector's development in Latin America.

In January 2005 ANACOM joined Regulatel as an outside observer during the Fourth Meeting of Regulatel Co-directors, held in Cuzco, Peru. On 11 November of that same year, ANACOM organised the Regulatel plenary meeting, where activities reports were presented along with the Action Plan for 2006.
