In 2012, the total value of the telecommunications market amounted to PLN 41.7 billion1, representing a decrease of approximately 2.4% compared to the previous year. The decline was mainly driven by the fixed-line telephony segment. Given the trend, lasting for a number of years now, of the decreasing number of lines, mainly due to substitution with mobile telephony services, it is not a surprise - in 2012, the market value of fixed-line telephony decreased by 13.5%. Another reason for the decline in the value of the entire market was weaker performance of mobile telephony - revenues in this segment decreased by 1%, for the first time since the beginning of this market's operations in Poland.
