NOTAS: | "Long-term initiatives such as software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) will ultimately enable faster and easier service creation and deployment. But to reach this point, existing networks will need to be reengineered – a very expensive and intensive exercise. Before that happens, operators need new monetization plans to maintain profitability in a saturated LTE market and ensure funding of new network technologies. In this report we outline three potential entry points for service creation using existing network infrastructure. These possibilities are found within the network (network analytics and policy), at the edge of the network (service gateways), and outside the network with technologies developed by smaller vendors and start-ups." |
