NOTAS: | This study was carried out for the European Commission by Capgemini Consulting and Dialogic "Europe’s digital economy and society offers new opportunities for citizens, companies and governmental organisations. New innovations arise and organisations rapidly adopt new technologies. In the digital era, websites and mobile applications play a pivotal role in offering services and products, as well as providing public sector information. While the importance of digital channels increases, equal access and equal usability of digital opportunities become more apparent as well. Europe counts approximately 80 million persons with one or more disabilities, ranging from colour-blindness to motor impairments. Efforts are needed to ensure fair access to digital channels. Everybody, including persons with disabilities, should be able to make use of, contribute and benefit from the digital world. Accessible digital public sector information and online services are particularly relevant nowadays, as these contribute to inclusive societies ensuring the full participation of all citizens." |
