NOTAS: | "The explosion of connected devices due to the development of machine-to-machine (M2M) applications and the Internet of Things (IoT) is causing a gradual, but significant, reshaping of communications markets. Regulators will play a key role in the development of new ways to communicate, the expansion and improvement of networks, and the protection of privacy and security.
Ovum has identified five key areas in the regulation of IoT; although they can be tackled individually (as has often happened in the past), it would be desirable to have a comprehensive approach that takes account of the revolution the IoT will bring to connectivity and the communication landscape. Only a handful of regulators, such as those in the UK and in Singapore, have so far developed an overarching vision of what it means to regulate for the IoT. Ovum will be regularly monitoring regulatory developments across countries in these areas." |
