| NOTAS: | "The ongoing mobile network evolution to LTE and the strong growth in data center interconnect continue to be key catalysts for augmenting optical network core capacity. Ovum projects the optical networks (ON) market will exceed $19bn by 2019, growing 5.0% cumulatively from 2013. 100G has surpassed 40G and is poised to accelerate as metro-optimized solutions begin to be deployed. Regional forecast trajectories have shifted again. North America and submarine forecast trajectories have been revised upwards based on carriers embracing 100G technology. The ON Asia-Pacific trajectory has been reset lower due to a carrier spending pause in China and a slowdown in Japan. Ovum projects the spending will pick up over the forecast period based on LTE network deployments. The SCA (South & Central America) trajectory has been lowered due to a softening macroeconomic environment. The overall growth trajectory for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, & Africa) remains unchanged. Our Western European growth trajectory has improved, but is offset by a lowered trajectory for Russia and the Ukraine due to political turmoil." |
