Large-scale data centers have an attendant need for large-scale data center interconnect (DCI). With tens of billions of dollars, euros, yen, and yuan invested in data centers, their central importance in application delivery will only grow. The optical network (ON) community needs a deeper understanding of this growing network traffic driver as future ON growth becomes more intertwined with data center growth.
